Which Career Path to Choose? Helping Young People Plan Their Future and Gain Valuable Skills

How can we help young people find their professional path? How can we ensure they develop skills sought after by employers and encourage them to build their future in Krosno? The answer lies in the project “Our Krosno – Green, Entreprising and Co-Managed with Residents”, financed by Swiss Funds and the state budget.

Krosno and the surrounding region are home to many modern companies and attractive employment opportunities. Employers are increasingly seeking individuals with technical, digital, and practical skills applicable in modern industry, services, and crafts. However, not every young person is aware of the opportunities offered by the local labour market or knows which educational path to choose in order to pursue a rewarding and promising career.

For this reason, we are launching a comprehensive set of initiatives that will bring together schools, students, parents, and entrepreneurs to better prepare young residents for entering the labour market.
Support for Students

The project will benefit students from 56 schools located in Krosno and the Krosno Functional Urban Area, including the municipalities of Miejsce Piastowe, Chorkówka, Jedlicze, Wojaszówka, Korczyna, and Krościenko Wyżne.

Schools will gain access to modern tools supporting career planning and vocational guidance. Students will be able to participate in individual consultations with career advisors, attend meetings with professionals representing various occupations, and visit local businesses to gain first-hand insight into different industries and workplaces.

Choosing a school or profession is often a challenge not only for young people but also for their parents. Therefore, the project includes meetings with experts and consultation opportunities that will help families support children in planning their future.

Modern Vocational Workshops and Practical Skills

An important component of the project is the development of vocational education. Technical and vocational schools in Krosno will be equipped with modern educational resources and equipment, enabling students to learn in conditions closely resembling those found in contemporary workplaces.

The planned investments will cover vocational training facilities in both technical and service-oriented sectors.

Students enrolled in vocational programmes will also have access to paid summer internships with local companies, professional training courses leading to additional qualifications, and motivational scholarships awarded to top-performing students.

Entrepreneurs as Partners in Education

The educational and career guidance activities included in the project directly address the needs expressed by local entrepreneurs during meetings of the Krosno Business Council.

"The implementation of vocational education and career guidance activities is a direct response to the needs identified by local entrepreneurs during discussions within the Krosno Business Council. We have repeatedly discussed labour market challenges and the competencies expected by employers," says Piotr Przytocki, Mayor of Krosno.

"The specific activities included in the project were initiated by entrepreneurs themselves and subsequently refined during project workshops involving students, parents, career advisors, and teachers," he adds.

The project provides for close cooperation between schools and local businesses. Entrepreneurs will participate in the development and improvement of educational programmes, organize summer internships for students, and host Open Days, giving young residents the opportunity to explore local career prospects.

Listening to Students and Parents

Schools participating in the project are currently conducting surveys among students and parents. The results will help tailor project activities to current needs and expectations.

At the same time, we are creating a database of local entrepreneurs willing to become involved in initiatives supporting the professional development of young people. Further details and opportunities for cooperation will be announced soon.

This Is Just the Beginning The activities described above mark only the first stage of a broader programme of initiatives implemented under the Swiss Funds project.

We will soon present further activities and opportunities available through the project. Stay tuned and follow for updates!
