Project Activities: “Our Krosno – Green, Entreprising and Co-managed with Residents”

The City of Krosno is implementing the project “Our Krosno – Green, Entreprising and Co-Managed with Residents” thanks to funding provided under the Swiss-Polish Cooperation Programme.

The project is a comprehensive response to the most important development challenges facing the city and the Krosno Functional Urban Area.

The initiative was created in response to depopulation, the outflow of young residents to larger urban centres, labour market challenges, climate change, the accessibility of healthcare services, and the need for greater citizen participation in decision-making processes affecting the city.

As part of the project, six interconnected actions will be implemented, together forming a coherent vision of a modern, green, and active Krosno.

Krosno – A City of Talent

This action focuses on preparing young people for the modern labour market. Schools will be equipped with innovative learning spaces designed to support the development of professional skills and competencies. Students will have access to career guidance services, educational and career fairs, and opportunities to explore the professions of the future.

The project also includes strengthening cooperation between schools and businesses, organizing training programmes for teachers, and providing educational institutions with modern teaching resources. As a result, young people will be able to acquire skills that correspond to the actual needs of the local economy.

Entrepreneurship as Krosno’s Superpower

The aim of this action is to foster entrepreneurship and support individuals planning to start their own businesses. The project will establish creativity laboratories, organize entrepreneurship workshops, and deliver educational activities aimed at developing business competencies among young residents.

Entrepreneurs and start-up founders will benefit from advisory services, training programmes, and support offered by the Entrepreneurship Incubator. The initiative will contribute to the creation of new businesses, the growth of local enterprises, and an increase in attractive employment opportunities.

Development of Zero-Emission Transport

One of the largest components of the project is the development of environmentally friendly public transport within the Krosno Functional Urban Area. Modern electric buses will be purchased to reduce emissions and improve air quality.

Bus stops will also be modernized, and residents will benefit from a more accessible and better-adapted public transport system. The investment will improve travel comfort, enhance transport accessibility, and reduce the environmental impact of mobility.

Our Green and Breathing City

The project envisages a significant expansion of green spaces and urban green infrastructure. New recreational areas and community gathering spaces will be created, including a park on Chopina Street.

Activities will also focus on biodiversity protection, climate change adaptation, and environmental education. These investments will improve the quality of public spaces, enhance residents’ quality of life, and strengthen the city’s resilience to climate-related challenges.

Health Closer to Residents

An important element of the project is improving access to healthcare services and preventive health initiatives. Residents will benefit from health programmes, preventive measures, and psychological support services.

The project also includes the development of rehabilitation services, the purchase of rehabilitation equipment, and dedicated support for seniors and people requiring care. Particular attention will be given to the mental health of children and young people, which is one of the most significant challenges facing contemporary local communities.

Active Residents and Co-Governance

The project provides for the establishment of a Community Activity Centre, a place dedicated to meetings, cooperation, and the implementation of residents’ initiatives.

Support will be provided to non-governmental organizations, volunteer programmes, social initiatives, and activities promoting intergenerational integration. An important aspect of this action is the development of mechanisms for social dialogue and increasing residents’ participation in decision-making processes related to the city’s development.

As a result, residents will be able to actively shape the future of Krosno and have a real influence on the direction of its development.

“Our Krosno – Green, Entreprising and Co-Managed with Residents” is a project that combines social, educational, economic, health-related, and environmental initiatives. All activities complement one another and together form a coherent strategy for the city’s development.

The outcome of the project will be a modern, resident-friendly Krosno: a city offering attractive opportunities for education, employment, entrepreneurship, community engagement, and life in a high-quality environment.

The project will be implemented until 2029 with financial support from the Swiss-Polish Cooperation Programme and the state budget.
