Krosno, like many medium-sized cities in Poland, faces challenges related to climate protection, air quality, and providing residents with modern and accessible public transport. Residents have highlighted the need for more frequent connections, the development of low-emission public transportation, and improved accessibility of public transport, particularly for seniors, young people, and persons with disabilities.

In response to these needs, the city authorities have planned a series of comprehensive investments aimed at improving the quality of public transport services and the comfort of daily travel. The priority is to promote sustainable mobility across the Krosno Functional Urban Area by increasing the share of zero-emission transport, enhancing the quality of public transportation services, and raising environmental awareness among residents. These investments will be implemented as part of the project “Our Krosno: Green, Entreprising and Co-Managed with Residents”, financed by the Swiss Funds and the state budget. The project will contribute to reducing pollutant emissions, improving air quality, and increasing the attractiveness of public transport as an alternative to private cars.

As part of the initiative, modern zero-emission buses will be purchased, several new bus shelters with walls covered in greenery will be installed throughout the city, and the suburban transport network will be expanded. The development of modern and environmentally friendly public transportation will improve access to public services, make it easier for residents to commute to schools, workplaces, and institutions, while also helping to create a greener, more resident-friendly, and climate-resilient Krosno.
