Krosno is a mature man

Krosno is a mature man. Handsome, well-groomed, athletic. He makes a good impression, although you have to get to know him better to appreciate all his qualities. He is enterprising, hardworking and determined. He knows very well where he is going, clearly sets goals for himself and his colleagues. He certainly has high aspirations. His disadvantage is his excessive superficiality - he judges others and what is going on around him only according to his own opinion. In this sense, he is somewhat superficial, inaccurate and not very insightful. He gives the impression of being a bit haughty, but in fact he is proud of who he is. Unfortunately, he sometimes seems to live a little beyond his means. He is a bit conservative and often reflective. It's hard to break him out of his own rhythm and encourage him to be more active, but when he does - then he acts with full commitment. Security is important to him, he feels responsible for securing his family's livelihood. He has great respect for tradition. In himself and in others he values education. Unquestionably - all-round development is important to him.

Such a personification of Krosno was created by the City Team at a recent workshop held at the Regional Center for Borderland Cultures (1st July). They were led by city advisors from the Union of Polish Cities - Barbara Łączna and Grzegorz Godziek.

The meeting summarized the results of the work of the City Team and the Krosno Development Council in identifying the key products of the city with the greatest potential for development. The products that generate or may in the future generate the greatest benefits for the local community were identified.

10 products with the greatest potential and impact on the development of Krosno:

  • Krosno's offer to investors (from a comprehensive perspective, including the areas of the Investment Zone ‘Krosno – Airport’ and the prospective economic activity zone on the site of the former airport in Targowiska, human capital - well-prepared staff and investment incentives of the city);
  • Educational offer of the Carpathian State University in Krosno with a sub-regional scope, including new majors at the master's level;
  • Vibrant boulevards on the Vistula River;
  • Green communal/rental housing, youth housing offer;
  • Low emission source elimination program;
  • Here’s where to live! A set of public open spaces, green areas, meeting places, at least in each neighborhood/settlement;
  • Educational offer of Krosno vocational and technical schools responding to the needs of local entrepreneurs;
  • The offer of cyclical, recognizable events of supra-regional range (International Mountain Ballooning Competition and the accompanying event Balloons over Krosno, Carpathian Climates - in a new edition and Portius Festival, Young Arts Festival, Entrance of the King, aviation and automotive picnics - Speedland Festival);

The team also looked at key development factors, i.e. elements that can positively or negatively affect the city's development potential. The identification of the city's key development factors refers to the city's profile and takes into account the factors that most strongly affect the possibility of: developing local product chains, local added value, and retaining and attracting new residents and external users of the city.

The team identified the following key factors for the development of Krosno:
