Marcin Reman has successfully passed two stages of the "Action. Join OS.", and has demonstrated that talking to residents is a natural process for him in the development of his immediate neighborhood.
He is an educator by profession. He comes from the northeastern part of Poland. It was there, in the area of Masurian villages and towns that he was very intensively involved in environmental animation. His work involved listening to the voices of local residents and engaging them in collective action. And so he created community gardens with residents, organized happenings or festivals, helped set up associations and obtain grants.
Marcin, using his experience and the knowledge he received at the community organizing training, very successfully completed the listening phase, which was the ticket to getting hired. The task was to prepare on his own such questions directed to residents, the answers to which would best illustrate what locals think about their immediate environment. The second difficulty was to go out into the field, identify the work area and select the sites in such a way that at least 20 people decided to talk freely.
In a short period of time, he accomplished the impossible, as the talks, in addition to the traditional bench by the block or in the park, in many cases took place in the home comfort of apartments.
Marcin chose the "Radosna Polanka" area - a green area located in the heart of the oldest neighborhood in the Polanka district - out of many proposals for work. Already on the first day of his work, on June 1 for Children's Day, he cheered up a group of about 40 people (children, teenagers and adults) to spend time together in the open air. He taught the children how to make large soap bubbles, served residents lemonade and created an opportunity to talk about ideas for the first community garden beds.
Marcin's aim is to recognize and activate the neighborhood environment of the old Popieluszko Street neighborhood, where he will work until the end of December 2023.
